The Network of Excellence on Land Governance in Africa (NELGA) plans to pilot a knowledge exchange series for 2021 for its members. The online event presents an opportunity to gather with other network members for knowledge exchange sessions on ‘what works’ towards achieving the African Union agenda on land. These sessions provide the opportunity to bridge capacity caps and engage with land governance programmes and institutions to learn new tactics, share experiences, challenges, and innovations from Africa and beyond.
Land governance in Africa faces challenges triggered by many factors such as climate change, economic resources, pandemics, implementation of policies, political will, data and information drought…the list goes on. Topics around sustainability, social and gender equity and inclusion, the shortage of land data, and monitoring and verification systems that support land governance are now at the fore of conversations and require urgent consideration, creative responses, and good collaboration between stakeholders.
