The AMDC Artisanal & Small-scale Mining (ASM) Community of Practice brings together professionals and stakeholders engaged in contributing towards a viable and sustainability aligned ASM sector; strengthened capacities of all ASM stakeholders and reduced negative environmental, health and welfare impacts from ASM.
The endeavour is to create a mining sector that harnesses the potential of ASM to advance integrated and sustainable rural socio-economic development to improve rural livelihoods, to stimulate entrepreneurship in a socially responsible manner, to promote local and integrated national development as well as fostering regional cooperation.
This Community of Practice is a forum where engagement is foreseen from across the board i.e. central and local government officials, political authorities, researchers, academics, NGOs, civil society, activists and donors - can share their knowledge, perspectives and solutions.
A generic issue may be posted and posited for discussions as a response to this welcome message on any topic or inquiry that is pertinent to Artisanal and Small Scale Mining
In the meantime, the following issues will be the initial focus – based on ongoing policy work by the AMDC in implementing the Africa Mining Vision at Country Mining Vision level.

This is an interactive forum that encourages its participants to share new ideas, challenge popular belief on ASM and bring innovative solutions around the discussions had herein.
